CAD Designer - Farmington Hills, Michigan


Summary

Originates and develops ideas to design the form of manufactured products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads publications, attends showings, and consults with engineering, marketing, production, and sales representatives to establish design concepts.
  • Evaluates design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and customer specifications.
  • Integrates findings and concepts and sketches design ideas.
  • Presents design to project engineer and discusses need for modification and change.
  • Designs products, product packaging and graphics for advertising utilizing CAD systems.
  • Prepares working drawings from sketches and design specifications.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience working with Solidworks, Pro/E, and Creo.
  • Experience with Ford, FCA or GM Teamcenter is a plus.
  • Experience working in Catia or Unigraphics NX is also a plus.
  • Experience in applying GD and T principles is a plus.
  • 3D modeling and srong drawing skills are a plus.
  • Experience with designing heat exchangers and stamped or machined parts a plus.

Supervisory responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
